If your comp is pre set with vista then you will get vista if it's XP then you will get XP lor

of course reformatting removes everything from the computer

Yea.To transfer a file or accept u nid download something first.

you can just change it to your anti virus.
They will say an error after that and just press ok, then you will receive the file.
I find it irritating to have the msn anti virus thingy ~.~
