Is google documents open source and what does open source actually mean? I need to know if it's open source because in ict in school we have to use open source software so I thought google documents would be great because you don't need to install anything which is great. If it's not open source do you know anything like google documents that you don't have to install which allows word processing?

Hi,

Open Source means the source code for the program is readable and editable by anyone. There are quite a few advantages for open sources app. Because everyone gets to read the source code, more people can help develop/add-ons on it.

google docs is partially open source on the API side,
I got a few site you can check it out, but most of them are not open source. =)
http://fengoffice.com/web/index.php - this should be wat you want, its open source but nid money lol
