Is it legal to write open source plugins/applications for a commercial software? I am trying to write open source plugins or applications on top of a commercial enterprise software. I would like to know if it causes any legal issues.

You can use Open-Source Source code, you may or may not need put credits to it. Depend on the original owner Copyright code.
